Romeo's Post-Party Jam

Completing act 1 of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, there are many emotions left for the next act to resolve problems or add problems to Romeo and juliets love as rivals.

The emotions felt give act 1 an astonishing amount of problems that happen at the end of the ball once romeo leaves. Romeo and Juliet realize that they are from rival families, Tybalt,The kingsmen for the capulets, feels the urge to kill romeo but is stopped by lord capulet because he thinks romeo doesn't want to ruin the party and he isn't as bad as the rest of his family These are two of the main problems that happen during the ball.

The dialogue in act one scene 5 shows how romeo is deeply in love with rosaline. Although getting rejected multiple times Romeo doesn't give up and tries to gain her heart in many ways.   Romeo ends up sneaking into the capulet's ball because he sees her name on the guest list. Romeo’s persistence, and love for rosaline makes him blind to other people around him until he finds Juliet.

Romeo loves Juliet but is well aware at the end that she's part of the Capulet family and their romance is something that shouldn't happen. Both are deeply in love with one another with Romeo calling Juliet a “Angel” when they meet and Thinking of her beauty is something he isn't worth and calling her lips the lips of a “saint”, Falling in love immediately.

Sims, A song made by Lauv, is a song about a person who fell in love who thinks they met this person at the wrong time and place. Observing the lyrics of the music show many similarities to actions Romeo has done.

The song starts with...

“I wish that you and I lived in the Sims

We could build a house and plant some flowers and have kids

But we're both at some trashy Halloween party downtown

And I'll probably never see you again”

The lyrics to this song show a person who is in love with another person they meet at a “trashy halloween party” they want to start a family with this person and settle down with them as time goes on. They claim that they will never see them again and won't be able to talk to them again/won't get a new chance.

This is similar to what Romeo does. He meets someone he loves (Juliet) and thinks that's the person he wants to be with for the rest of his life. Not knowing who Juliet is yet (1.5.51-60) meeting at the Capulet's ball was not a good setting for them and was hard for them to talk.

The song says more things like…

“I wish that we met walkin' round the MoMA (MoMA)

Yeah, I'd say nice to meet you, 'stead of saying nice to know you

I'd try to impress you with some bullshit 'bout Money

tAt least I wouldn't be too drunk to stay

And I wouldn't have let you slip away

This part talks about the horrible setting and would want to try again with this person in another way/place.

This again, goes back to the Capulet's ball with Romeo in danger from tybalt (1.5.61-67) and Both Romeo and Juliet in love. The song follows Romeo's Journey throughout the ball and his love for Juliet as he leaves the ball and finds out his one true love is his true rival.
